Deroy K. Anderson, 97, of Kimball, died at the Kimball County Manor on Thursday, May 24, 2012.  Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Reverend Ken Boston officiating. Burial was in the Kimball Cemetery. If friends wish, memorial gifts may be made to the Harrisburg Community Church or the Banner County Historical Society or Kimball Lions Scholarship Fund. Deroy Kanton Anderson was born in Fullerton on October 21, 1914, the son of Winfield and Anna Pearl (Penick) Anderson. He received his early education in Fullerton and moved with his family to Banner County in 1926. He attended the Bushnell schools and graduated from high school in 1932. Deroy was married to Beulah Ione Brawner in Kimball on June 26, 1938. Deroy overcame Polio in the early 1950. They made their home on the family farm in Banner County, a home which he lived in for over 54 years. He also sold Pioneer seed corn for 37 years and was one of the first in the state to use a hybrid seed. He was a member of the Calvary Methodist Church, served  in the Lions Club for over 50 years and was also a member of Farm Bureau for over 50 years, Deroy also served on various other boards.

He loved working on the farm and enjoyed driving the tractor, a job which he did well into his nineties.

Survivors include his sons Owen (Janice) Anderson of Melbeta, and Gerald (Lana) Anderson of Kimball; daughters Lennis Lea Anderson of Scottsbluff, and Mary (Gerald) Walker of Longmont, Colorado; sister Lorene Shaw of Kimball; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Kenneth ,sisters Roberta Robb and Helen Richards, and one grandchild.
